When is it too young?
When is it too young to teach your daughter that "beauty is pain"? This year my 2nd grade daughter decided that she wanted her hair curled for picture day on Friday. So on Friday morning she got up early to make sure that she had enough time to curl her hair for school. She is one that likes to look cute every day but especially on picture day she likes to look her best. So early Friday there I am curling her straight thick hair. Because it is thick I had to part it in four sections. Although she loves to do her hair she is a little sensitive so every so often she would yelp or pull back with a cringe on her face. I had to remind her that this was her idea and then I hear the words just pour out of my mouth "sometimes hun, beauty can be painful". Oops, is it to early to teach this to an 8 year old child? Well, she will have to learn it sooner or later. So with that she walked out the door in her best outfit, jewelry, and curls bouncing as she walked. A smile on her face made for an exciting day. But I still wonder, is it to early to teach her one of women's life lessons?
